Today, a solemn ceremony of the launch of the first tram model 71-152 on the route in Barnaul (Altay Territory) has taken place, which is the result of joint cooperation of “Petersburg Tram-Mechanical Plant” OJSC (“PTMZ” OJSC) and KAU Altayelektrotrans.

Up to this day, “PTMZ” OJSC has been delivering this model only to SUE Gorelektrotrans in St. Petersburg, where 25 trams of model 71-152 have been in operation since 2008.

Model 71-152 is the first Russian two-unit tram car with the area of the low floor of more than 60%. As to the main technical parameters, the car fully conforms to low-floor cars of the European level. Particular emphasis has been placed on the needs of passengers with prams, disabled persons and elderly people – the cars have wide doorways and passenger areas in the low-floor tram sections where the floor elevation is 35 cm. The car has four 90 kW induction motors ensuring the car speed of 75 km/h whereby energy consumption is 40% less in comparison with the mass-produced tram cars in operation. This economy is achieved through the use of regenerative braking system that enables a tram car to generate electric power when braking and to transfer it to the network.

It is planned to co-produce the second tram that will appear in Barnaul streets in 1Q 2010.

The management of “PTMZ” intends to develop a long-term partnership with KAU Altayelektrotrans to improve transport services rendered to people living in the Altay Territory.

  • The traction gear based on the rotary field motors substantially reduces power consumption (up to 30 %, considering recuperation) in running and braking modes;

  • Modern stylish interior of the cars was created using fire resistant materials, specially designed illumination scheme and unorthodox hand rails. It fully complies with standards and trends developed by the leading European car makers;

  • Forced ventilation system with air heating option creates comfortable environment inside the car. It provides required level of ventilation and substantially reduces noise level inside the car;

  • Glued panes used in the car and the operator's cab create sufficient seal and contribute to the perfection of shapes;

  • Safe door closing mechanism;

  • Complex digital information system with the following functions: train announcing system, communication channel “passenger-operator”; scrolling text display, display of information about current location of the train;

  • The design of the car includes the interior video surveillance system. The operator can at any time view the picture from any camera on the display installed in his cab.
