Firstly, the concept of a new electric train was presented at the II St. Petersburg International Innovation Forum in September 2009. By the year-end results, NeVa was named as the St. Petersburg Best Innovative Project for the Purposes of Municipal Economy, and won the prize of the St. Petersburg Government, in compliance with the City program on innovations support. In January 2011, the Governor Mrs. Valentina Matvienko and other leaders of the St. Petersburg Administration visited VAGONMASH CJSC in anticipation of the transfer of the first NeVa series cars for tests to SUE St. Petersburg Underground. March 22, 2011VAGONMASH CJSC signed a contract with the Russian Railways Trading House for supply of 4 dining cars for Federal Passenger Company Russian Railways JSC. All cars will be delivered to the client in the second quarter of 2011. VAGONMASH CJSC has been producing dining cars for the Russian Railways JSC since 2003. In 2009 St. Petersburg car builders upgraded the base model of dining car. The upgrading was based on proposals of the Federal Passenger Directorate to improve cars taking into consideration experience of their operation as part of deluxe trains of the Russian Railways JSC. At the 2nd International Railway exhibition EXPO 1520, the main specialized forum of the railway industry of CIS countries and Eastern Europe, the upgraded model of dining car was presented among other presentations of the latest railway engineering and technologies of the Russian industry. Last year the Russian Railways had purchased the first upgraded dining car manufactured by VAGONMASH CJSC, and now the company secured an order to manufacture next four dining cars. The concept of new dining car lies in providing the passengers with the opportunity to find themselves in a small cozy restaurant as this car model is equipped with not only new kitchen appliances – a six-burner stove designed for vehicles, low and medium temperature refrigerators, but also has a real restaurant interior design. A new diesel generator is installed to provide additional power supply and recharge an energy-plus battery. |
