The passenger four-axle
tram-car used for single-direction running, with asynchronous drive is
designed for operating on city and suburban lines with right-hand
traffic and 1524mm rail gage.

Model
71-153
– four-axle car belongs to low floor tram-car lineup, produced by «PTMF» OJSC.
The car-builders from St. Petersburg put cars of this
model in serial production
for the first time in 2008;

This tram-car combines in itself both new and well-tried engineering solutions, components and materials that were successfully used in practice on tram-cars, model
71-152. In Saint Petersburg these cars function since 2007;

Height
of low floor in new series cars made by «PTMF» OJSC
equals to 350mm;
-
Low
floor quantity in 71-153 – 40%;
-
Two wide doorways and accumulation platform in the middle of low
floor car’s area provide the fast passenger loading and unloading,
as well as better comfort for passengers with push-carts, and for
disabled persons;
-
Compatibility is one of the new car’s advantages. Overall car length
– 15 meters which enables the tram-car to harmonically negotiate the
city traffic without making any additional hindrance for other road
traffic participants;

Exterior car’s design is provided with paste-in tinted glazing,
which excludes any leakage and improves the car’s appearance;
-
Outer
and inner skin plating is manufactured from polymeric materials, which
exclude possibility of corrosion onset and improve lifespan of the car’s
body;

New
all-purpose car truck with two-stage cushioning and antivibration
rubberized wheels (product of BonaTrans) allow to ensure the 750mm floor
height above power truck, as against 900mm in previous generation
tram-cars;

The
car is equipped with four asynchronous traction motors, powered 55 kW
each, which enables the tram-car to accelerate up to 75 km/hr;

At
the same time, the modern electrodynamic brake system provides the
installed stopping distance, under braking from maximum service speed,
without brake shoe wear;

Besides, the car is equipped with anti-skidding and anti-slipping
systems;

For
ensuring the continuity of service in traction equipment, tram-car is provided with pantograph having an electric drive (made by
Lekov);

The
standard layout for passenger saloon implies an arrangement of
19 to 31 sitting places. At that, the maximum passenger capacity equals
165 persons;

The
car’s saloon is equipped with “lightning lines” on fluorescent tubes
base, powerful electric air heaters for saloon heating and ventilating,
with audio information “roll caption” displays, and door’s “target
opening” system;

The
doors (product of Tamvere) have a fool-proof mechanism with
anti-clamping function;
-
The
driver’s cab is made on computer-based automatic system with
touch-sensitive display;
-
The digital viewing system enables driver to control the situation
inside the saloon and on the traffic way;

The
rear-view mirrors have a remote control drive and are equipped with
electrical heater system;
-
The adequate comfort and microclimate in a driver’s cabin are
maintained by air conditioning system.
